ISKINY continues the very popular Third and Fourth Grade Ski & Ride Passport Program. The "ISKINY Free for Kids Passport Program" allows a 3rd or 4th grader to learn to ski or ride for free and also ski for free when an adult ticket is purchased. A small processing fee applies. This program encourages parents and kids to enjoy a great healthy lifelong activity. ISKINY is hosting the third year of a very popular program called "Discover NY Ski Day". On January 8th, 2015 skiers and snowboarders can enjoy a beautiful day on the slopes starting at $12! They can take their voucher to the ski area they chose and redeem for a lift ticket for the day or evening. New York Ski areas have also been working to add more improvements for the 2014-15 season. These improvements will help skiers and snowboarders alike as well as those who want to snow tube to get out and enjoy winter.
Hunter Mountain is looking to start their season on November 21st, weather permitting. They have also installed two new Carpet – Conveyor Lifts at Hunter One to enhance the learning experience for new skiers and snowboarders. Belleayre Mountain has been working on improving their cafeteria in Overlook Lodge for better customer service. They have also added a new air compressor for snowmaking and a new snow cat for grooming. They also are working on a new modern website with ecommerce built in. Belleayre is also building a new rental shop and doubling the space for their Kidscamp program. There was also more seating added in the Overlook Lodge as well as new restrooms. At West Mountain they are adding more snowmaking capacity to cut the time it takes to make snow and are looking to open before December 25th again this year. They are also improving night skiing with a $250,000 lighting upgrade on energy efficient lighting that is also easier to see at night. Whiteface Mountain is adding new, more efficient snow guns including fan and tower based snowguns. They also added a new groomer for more efficient processing of the snow than a standard groomer to produce a good surface. Whiteface has been working on mountain improvements including evening out grades on a couple of trails as widening another. They have done a makeover to the Kids Kampus lodge with a new name to reflect that adults can be beginners too. Also improvements to the Bear Den lodge have been done with more cafeteria seating, two new restrooms and full-sized retail shop. They have also switched the rental and nursery to improve flow in the building. Whiteface it also adding new furniture to the Cloudspin Lounge and more floor space as well as cooking capacity. Gore Mountain is replacing their triple chair lift with a new high-speed detachable quad called the Adirondack Express II. This lift will be smoother, faster and more reliable and can transport 2,400 people per hour. It will feature more comfortable seating as well. Gore is also adding 22 new tower based snowguns their Topridge trail and around the Pipeline Bridge which will improve the interconnect trail to the Historic North Creek Ski Bowl. They are also working adding four new glade trails. Also for beginners they are working on improving the lift experience as well as adding "Parallel from the Start" for first time skiers who are over 13 using specialized equipment and learning techniques. Titus Mountain has been working on improvements for the upcoming season. They are adding a new "Magic Carpet" conveyor lift at their learning center, adding 10 new "Forever Wild" ungroomed terrain sections and a newly branded Terrain Park called "Moon Valley Parks" which has all-natural features and a brand new snowboard rental fleet. Windham Mountain has invested $4.2 million in capital improvements for the upcoming season. They have added a new trail between the West and East peaks of the mountain. They have also renovated the base lodge restaurant and bar and added a new spa and yoga center. Windham Mountain has expanded the Children's Learning Center; development of a lift-served mountain bike park; investment in snowmaking infrastructure; two new PistenBully groomers, and continued improvements at the Resort's golf course. At Greek Peak Mountain Resort has invested over a half-million dollars in snowmaking improvements this year to increase snowmaking capacity and the ability to produce more and better quality snow. They also plan to have more snowmaking coverage in places where snowmaking was non-existent. Holiday Valley has made $3.7 Million in improvements for the 2014-15 season including the installation of 54 new HKD automated snowguns on four trails coupled with the additional 161 snowguns that Holiday Valley already has resulting in improved quality and quantity of snow. Automated snowguns adjust based on air temperature and humidity which then adjusts the amount of compressed air to make the snow saving energy. They also added a turbo fan snowgun for the tubing park and new snowmaking pipelines on five slopes. Holiday Valley is also widening and improving several slopes on the resort with new connecting trails too. They also are constructing a new clock tower bridge outside the Holiday Valley base lodge. At the Inn at Holiday Valley they have renovated the guest rooms with new furniture, carpets, wall treatments and countertops. They are also working on improving the mobile and regular websites with two new webcams to be installed. Holiday Valley also has refurbished a warming hut on top of a trail and have also made numerous improvements to the golf course and other facilities at the resort. Peek 'n Peak Resort is celebrating their 50th Anniversary with a special 50th year logo to commemorate the occasion and giveaways this season. They also have revamped their Tubing facility with two more lanes for a total of seven and a new "Magic Carpet" lift. Royal Mountain last year had skiing open from Thanksgiving to Easter and for this upcoming season they have added four new tower mounted snow guns and have invested over $350,000 in the past three years to improve the mountain facilities.
