Bristol Mountains' Morgan Schild Wins Two Bronze Medals at the FIS World Cup Freestyle -Moguls Competition and a Spot on the 2018 US Winter Olympic Team
Canandaigua, NY (January 12, 2018), Morgan Schild, age 20, took Deer Valley by storm starting with the FIS Visa International World Cup event on Wednesday night with a 3rd place podium appearance that inched her closer to earning a spot on the 2018 US Winter Olympic Team. Thursday night was a repeat of Wednesday night with another third place finish and the added bonus of the announcement that Schild is officially an Olympian. She is the first member of the Bristol Mountain Super Six to earn a spot on the US Olympic Team. This elite group started out on the Bristol Mountain Freestyle Team under the direction of Bristol Mountain Freestyle Coach, John Kroetz and all are currently members of the US Ski & Snowboard Team. They are Morgan Schild (moguls), Jon Lillis (aerials), Chris Lillis (aerials), Dylan Walczyk (moguls), Harrison Smith (aerials) and Patrick O'Flynn (aerials). "This is a coaches dream come true. Morgan has worked very hard to get to this place and I'm thrilled for her", says, Kroetz.
"We couldn't be more proud of Morgan. Not only is she an outstanding moguls athlete but she is a wonderful mentor, to the kids on the Bristol Mountain Freestyle Team. Bristol Mountain Freestyle Coach, John Kroetz, has been the Freestyle Coach for seventeen years. "Having six athletes on the US Ski & Snowboard Team is an amazing accomplishment. Jon Lillis will compete in the FIS Visa International World Cup Aerials competition in Deer Valley later today Schild's next competition is in Tremblant in less than two weeks.
