Greek Peak Mountain Resort selected to be one of eight North American Ski Resorts competing in “I AM a Snowmaker” video contest

CORTLAND, New York (January 23, 2024) Greek Peak Mountain resort is one of eight North American Ski Resorts competing in this years I AM a Snowmakervideo contest brought to you by Ski Area Management (SAM) Magazine and HKD Snowmakers. This years theme was to produce a day in the lifevideo that captures the hard work and dedication of the snowmaking team and how snowmakerscontributions result in personal development and the overall success of the mountain.

The Greek Peak snowmaking team consists of 24 individuals who play a crucial role in creating and maintaining the ski slopes during the winter season. Their combined 65+ years of work experience and knowledge are essential for ensuring consistent snow coverage, even in the challenging Central New York weather conditions. These dedicated individuals often work long hours but enjoy every minute of it, which is why they chose to be part of the Greek Peak snowmaking team.

According to Wes Kryger, president of Greek Peak Mountain Resort, snow-making at Greek Peak has a long, storied history, and is a role that Kryger, himself, took part in back in the late 1970’s.

“The technological advances in snowmaking have been significant since I was out on the mountain with the team, but without question, snowmakers are the heart and soul of our snow sports operation,” said Kryger.

“To be selected for this year’s competition speak volumes to the advancements we have made in our own snow-making efforts over the past several years and is something the entire Greek Peak team and our guests can take great pride in.”

HKD will host the winning team at its Canadian headquarters in Quebec City, Quebec, for two days of education and entertainment. The winners will be given the opportunity to dive deep into HKD’s best-selling products and learn how to maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and safely operate HKD equipment.

Other competing mountains include: Bretton Woods (NH), Cataloochee Ski Area (NC), Copper Mountain (CO), Gore Mountain (NY), Mammoth Mountain (CA), Panorama (BC, Canada), and Waterville Valley (NH).
