Titus Mountain Family Ski Center to Open Tomorrow (Friday)
December 14, 2017
Malone, NY – After a short cold snap and 6" of natural powder, Titus Mountain will be opening their mountain tomorrow, Friday, December 15 for night skiing and riding.
"Our guys have been out on the mountain non-stop," said Zach White, general manager at Titus. "The miracle of modern snow-making is really something else and allows us to open when we haven't really gotten the snow we expected by now. There isn't much snow in town, but you wouldn't believe how much is on the mountain right now." White said that the cold weather over the past 3 days pushed their mountain operations crew into overdrive.
Titus Mountain will be open from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. with discounted $10 lift tickets on Friday. They plan to stay open through the weekend with normal operating hours.
"Credit truly goes to our snowmakers and groomers for this feat," said Brittany Taylor, director of marketing at Titus. "I think everyone was pushing for this weekend for opening, but without our mountain operations team it wouldn't have happened."
Titus Mountain saw their first snowfall in early November as well as below-freezing temperatures to allow snow-making, but the recent warm weather didn't allow for further expansion of snowmaking.
"We just left the piles of snow on the mountain, didn't touch them, and put everyone on standby," said White. "But we definitely used that snow today while grooming. And our guys will be working until the lifts start spinning. We'll continue bringing trails online through the weekend."
Conditions will be available for opening weekend each morning by visiting www.TitusMountain.com. Season passes are still on sale and can be purchased online or in person and have no blackout dates, including the opening day. Continued hours of operation and opening days can be found online.
