Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I find snow reports for New York ski areas?

The SKI NY Snow Reports page collects current conditions from member ski areas across New York, grouped into five regions: the Adirondacks, Catskills, Central New York, Hudson Valley and Western New York. Each report shows new snow, base depth, surface conditions, lifts and trails open, hours and tubing.

SKI NY updates its snow reports daily during the ski season, using the reports each ski area files. Conditions can change quickly with weather, grooming and snowmaking. On the day you ski, check the area’s own website or webcam for the latest.

Surface conditions describe the snow on the trails using standard terms such as powder, packed powder, machine groomed and hard pack. The SKI NY Surface Conditions Codes page defines each term, so you can compare reports from different ski areas.

Yes. Many New York ski areas use snowmaking to add to natural snowfall, which helps them open earlier and keep trails covered through the season. Each SKI NY snow report shows whether the area made snow in the last 24 hours.

The Catskills snow report page covers all five SKI NY ski areas in the region: Belleayre Mountain, Holiday Mountain, Hunter Mountain, Plattekill Mountain and Windham Mountain Club. Each report links to the area’s full SKI NY profile.
