Passport Program FAQs

What is the SKI NY Kids Ski & Ride Passport?

The SKI NY Free for Kids Ski & Ride Passport is a digital card that lets 3rd, 4th and 5th graders ski or ride for free at participating New York ski areas. Each Passport holder can get up to two free one-day lift tickets at every participating area, when skiing with a paying adult.

Children in 3rd, 4th or 5th grade are eligible. A child can receive one Passport for each of those grades, so a child repeating a grade does not get a second Passport for the same grade. Parents upload a report card, progress report or grade portal screenshot to confirm the grade.

The Passport has a $45 processing fee per child, paid online by Visa, Mastercard, American Express or Discover. The lift tickets themselves are free. The fee is not refundable for any reason, including injury, weather or closures.

In the 2025-26 season, 34 ski areas accepted the Passport, including Belleayre, Bristol, Gore, Greek Peak, Holiday Valley, Whiteface and Windham. Hunter Mountain does not participate. Each area sets its own rules, such as midweek-only use or holiday blackout dates, so check the participating areas list before your visit.

Each Passport holder can get up to two free one-day lift tickets at each participating ski area. Each paying adult can bring up to two Passport holders. A family with three Passport holders needs two paying adults on the same visit.

An eligible adult ticket is one bought directly from the ski area, either at the ticket window or on the ski area’s website. Third-party tickets, whether discounted or free, are not eligible.

No. The adult lift ticket must be bought directly from the ski area, at the ticket window or on the ski area’s website. Free tickets, free passes, third-party tickets and discounted tickets bought anywhere other than the ski area are not accepted.

Show your digital Passport card at the ticket window, printed or on your phone. Some ski areas have a designated spot for Passport redemption, so ask the ticket office when you arrive.

No. Any part of the report card works, as long as it shows your child’s name, the school year and the grade.

Yes. Upload a recent photo of your child. It appears on your child’s digital Passport card.

The Passport is a digital card. Once your application is approved, it is emailed to the address on your parent profile and saved in that profile. It is a PDF you can print or show on your phone at the ski area.
