Seppi Stiegler

Windham Mountain Club is thrilled to announce Seppi Stiegler as its first Director of Competitive Programs. The newly created role brings WMC's race, freestyle, and events programming together under unified leadership for the first time, reflecting our growing interest in our competitive pathway and expanded commitment to enhancing the freestyle program in the years ahead. Seppi will oversee WMC's Intro to Competition, Competition Race, Competition Freestyle, and events teams.

"In alignment with our commitment to sustaining and elevating our standing as a leading junior race and freestyle feeder program in the Northeast, we believe Seppi's demonstrated leadership experience and strategic vision uniquely position him to guide WMC's competitive and events teams into the future."

— Laurie Marshall-Lauria, Director of Ski and Ride School

A lifetime skier, racer, and coach, Seppi grew up in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, where his earliest days were spent in the ski school office and on the magic carpet. He went on to race for the University of Denver, where he was a three-time NCAA Champion, three-time NCAA All-American, RMISA (Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association) Skier of the Year, and World University Games Champion. He also received the Pioneer Leadership Award and the Management Department Leadership Award and served as team captain for Denver's NCAA ski team.

Seppi made his World Cup debut on the US Ski Team in the winter of 2011-2012 and went on to race the NorAm and World Cup circuits through 2015 under the leadership of Peter Lange.

Over the past decade, inspired by his time working with Erich Sailer, Seppi has dedicated himself to coaching. He has run camps around the world through Stiegler Ski Racing Camps, worked with Erich Sailer Ski Racing Camps, Crystal Mountain Alpine Club, the Jackson Hole Ski and Snowboard Club, and most recently, served as Head Men's FIS Coach at NYSEF (New York Ski Educational Foundation). Seppi has helped place many athletes at the top of the podium and supported their ability to qualify for U18 National, US Nationals, and secure spots on some of the top college teams across the country. He holds some of the sport's top coaching credentials: USSS Level 300 certification, along with Level 3 Referee, Level 3 Competition Official, Level 2 Jury Advisor, and Level 2 Chief of Course certifications.

Seppi's experience as an athlete, combined with a natural drive toward leadership, has shaped him into a coach who leads with confidence, depth of knowledge, and an athlete-centric approach—one that places equal importance on strength and conditioning, nutrition, and personal development.

"The opportunity to build a unified program at WMC across racing, freestyle, and events is a rare and exciting challenge. By bringing these disciplines under one cohesive vision, we can create a unique pathway for athlete development. This role reflects a deep commitment by the Windham Mountain Club team to the growth of competitive winter sports and a vital investment in the future of US Skiing. I am thrilled to be joining this team, and I am incredibly eager to work with our State and National development systems using this new platform for growth."

— Seppi Stiegler, Director of Competitive Programs

With Seppi leading the vision for WMC's race, freestyle, and events programming, the Club looks forward to building stronger pathways for all athletes — from the grassroots level through every avenue of competition — and to forging partnerships across the ski industry that advance racing and freestyle in the years ahead.

See you on the slopes,
