New York Ski Areas Getting Ready for the 2025-26 Season

Ski Areas in New York have invested Millions in Upgrades and Updates

Jamesville, NY: Teeing off a fantastic 2024-25 ski season which saw record snowfalls at some New York ski areas, they are now getting ready for the 2025-26 ski season with updates to improve the skiing and riding experience. Here’s a summary of what’s new at ski areas around the State.

At Belleayre Mountain in Highmount in the Catsills has expanded their Discovery Lodge to over 28,000 square feet. Also, they have added a new Rossignol Experience Center with 1200+ skis and 300 Burton Snowboards along with demonstration gear too. To help tune up skis and boards and they added a tuning and repair center. Their Marketplace Cafeteria was expanded with more seating and new food and beverage stations including a carved sandwich and espresso bar. Restrooms were also added too. Belleayre also added 20 new HKD tower mounted snowguns along with a fan snowmaking machine and 20,000 feet of new snowmaking pipe. They added a new snow cat too. Bristol Mountain in Canandaigua in Western New York has been sprucing things up with fresh paint to their Morning Star chairlift and their Rocket Lodge too. Bristol added a new Freestyle Aerial Water Ramp that is open during the summer for aerial training welcoming athletes from all over the northeast to help prepare for the 2026 Winter Olympics. Bristol has also done major work to their lighting for night skiing. Last winter they opened their new Lunar Launch Complex with added two covered surface lifts for new skiers and riders. This past summer they have doubled the terrain available and added grading to create a clear path for instructors and students. They have also expanded snowmaking to open beginner terrain more efficiently. Bristol Mountain which also operates Roseland Water Park has opened their new miniature golf as well. Gore Mountain which is in the Adirondacks in the town of North Creek has been working on installing their new Topridge Quad which is a new fixed grip quad lift that replaces their triple chair that was there. They have also added new snowmaking pipe across several trails which replaced older pipe they note it will increase water capacity which will make snowmaking more productive. Gore is also building a new lodge called “The Station” at the Ski Bowl which has additional seating, retail, lockers, outdoor deck and patio. “The Station” will also feature a year-round full-service restaurant and bar. Greek Peak Mountain Resort in Cortland in the Finger Lakes has been working on major snowmaking improvements on the mountain. They are in the making a $2.51M in upgrades over a four-year period. Greek Peak has installed new snowmaking pipe on six trails along with new snowguns. In the future they plan to expand snowmaking capacity towards the east side of the area with the addition of up to 250 new HKD snowguns over the four-year period. Learn more at greekpeak.net.

Holiday Mountain in Monticello in the Catskills has been continuing its major update and upgrade that began over two years ago and this year they have added a new terrain park with a high-speed rope tow. Also, they have installed a new snowtubing park with the new “River Lodge” with added snowguns and a SunKid conveyor lift. For their tubing park they installed a new color lighting system for night tubing. Holiday Mountain has clear-cut six abandoned trails and added three new trails. They have installed new snowmaking pipe and making repairs to the trails as well. Holiday has rebuilt their POMA triple chair with new controls, drive, motor and buildings along with new communications line. A new ski patrol building was added on top the mountain. Holiday has also added a new 4800-amp electrical service for their pump house which replaced a diesel generator. Also rebuilt was their pump house with new drives, panels and control system. At Holiday Valley Resort in Ellicottville in Western New York has spent over $5M in enhancements. They are expanded their automated snowmaking system, making infrastructure improvements at their Double Black Diamond Golf Course and have updated parking too. Holiday Valley has purchased two new PistenBully 600 snow groomers which are more fuel-efficient they note, added a new resort shuttle bus and SKIDATA access gates at three lifts. The access gates use RFID to scan lift passes and tickets for faster access they note. They have completed renovation of the rooms at the Inn at Holiday Valley. Holimont in Ellicottville in Western New York has installed new snowmaking on three trails with over a mile of upgraded air and water lines. They also installed two new air compressors. Holimont also purchased a new PistenBully 600 to groom their terrain park. They have expanded terrain at their learning area as well adding new dedicated parking for it. At their competition venue they have constructed a new timing building with better visibility they note for timing and judging as well as announcing capabilities. Holimont also installed new signage for their 18-hole alpine disc golf course. They have also built two new mountain bike trails and expanded their Sunset lift unload area for easier unloading of mountain bikes from the lift. At Hunter Mountain in Hunter in the Catskills has renovated their base lodge redesigned food and beverage options and updates across the space. They have also partnered with OvRide for bus trips from NYC. Hunter has added a new event called “Veterans Weekend” for active-duty military and veterans alike. They will be recognizing and hold activities for those who are and have served this country in military service. Hunter is also hosting a new ski and ride competition on February 28th with challenges and exploration of Hunter for all different ability levels. Learn more at huntermtn.com.

Kissing Bridge in Colden in Western New York has made several improvements included a new entrance to Willie’s bar from their central parking lot. Two new murals were painted in the central area as well as painting the exterior of the resort as well. They have added new short-term rentals for overnight stays and built a stage their Lake Effect Saloon for events. A new reading room and guest lounge has been added in the ticket center. Kissing Bridge is now operating their own retail and ski rentals too they note. On the mountain they have repaired snowmaking pipe and added new snowmaking on three trails as well. At Labrador Mountain in Truxton in Central New York, has improved their snowmaking infrastructure by adding new snowmaking pipe, pumps and snowguns. Labrador has also painted their lifts and installed new lighting. Learn more at skicny.com.

McCauley Mountain in central Adirondacks in the village of Old Forge has replaced their water pump system for snowmaking operations. They also installed new SunKid conveyor lift for their beginner area. McCauley also extended their rope tow on the mountain to reach a longer ski run and added “Beginner Glades”. At Mount Peter in Warwick in the Hudson Valley Region, has upgraded their snowmaking pumps and electric. Also new energy efficient lighting was installed as well. Mount Peter also purchased a Latitude All Weather Snowmaking Machine for making snow at any temperature. Check out more at mtpeter.com.

Oak Mountain in Speculator in the Central Adirondacks has added new lights on “Oak Mountain Run” for night skiing. Also, they have added SnowCloud ticketing and POS system to enhance guest experience. They also done trail maintenance as well. Oak Mountain is a participant in the “Snow Triple Play” card as well. At Peek ‘n Peak Resort in Clymer in Wester York has improved and repaired their snowmaking air and water system increasing capacity for upgraded snowmaking production they note. Also they installed energy-efficient LED lighting and improved lift loading and unloading platforms as well. Find out more at pknpk.com.

Plattekill Mountain, located in Roxbury in the Catskills, has added a new Winchcat Groomer as well as expanded snowmaking on several trails which they note doubles their snowmaking capacity and speed of putting down snow as well as depth of snow too. They added new siding on the lodge and more energy efficient windows that open too. Also added are new ski patrol buildings on the summit of both chairlifts. They are also participating in a new partner mountain program with 42 other mountains which offers discounts and free reciprocal tickets for their season pass holders. At Song Mountain located in Tully in Central New York has added new snowmaking pipe, pumps and snowguns. They have also painted their lifts and added new lighting. Their “Thunderbird Lodge” was also remodeled. Find out more at skicny.com.

Swain Resort in Swain in Western New York has installed new energy-efficient LED lighting for buildings and slopes. They also added 10 new snowguns and upgraded and expanded their terrain park. They also implemented a new Family Pass as well as their new “Adopt a Family” program. Check out swain.com for more details.

Titus Mountain in Malone in the Adirondacks added over three miles of electrical wire their Upper Mountain snowmaking. They also installed a new snowmaking pump as well. Titus notes they have improved drainage by adding over 25 culverts. Also, for their tubing center they added cosmic lights for night tubing as well as speakers for music. Titus notes they added new on and off ramps for chair 4 and painted a few lifts. Also added were 100 new pairs of rental boots and a new glade trail from the Upper Mountain. At West Mountain in Queensbury in the Adirondacks added 3,500 feet of new snowmaking ability and pip. For the snowmaking they upgraded the power infrastructure as well. West also purchased a new PistenBully 600 Winch Cat for grooming. Check out more details at westmountain.com.

Whiteface Mountain in Wilmington in the Adirondacks has replaced their Little Whiteface and Mountain Run lifts with a new Skytrac double chair. They also improved their race trail with snowmaking pipe and other work for the Nor Am downhill event. Whiteface purchased a new PistenBully 600 Winch Cat. They also purchased 120 new low e HKD snowguns with 50 being installed on Hoyt’s High, their 4400-foot expert trail on Lookout Mountain. They also added a new high country road trail for access to intermediate and easier trail from the expert terrain on Little Whiteface. Learn more at whiteface.com.

At Willard Mountain in Greenwich, located in the upper Hudson Valley, has rebuilt snowmaking valves and installed new hydrants for snowmaking. They also built two new lift houses on top to the mountain and remodeled and painted their learning center building. Willard also remodeled lift houses as well as added new trail signage with lighting. In the future they plan to replace their learning area rope tow with a new carpet lift and upgrade their snowmaking pump house. Check out more info at willardmountain.com.

In the Catskills, Windham Mountain Club in Windham is getting ready for the upcoming season with snowmaking upgrades including 5,000 feet of new air and water pipe on several trails. They also purchased 38 high-efficiency HKD snow guns as well. They have also been working on their terrain park now called “Windham Parks” with refreshed park features for a better experience. In the summer of 2026, they will be renovating their snowmaking pumphouse bringing better reliability, upgrading the capacity and flexibility of their snowmaking system. Windham Golf Club will continue to remain public for the next several years and they are going to be renovating the club house starting November and wrap it up in April 2026 in time for the golf season. Windham Mountain Club has also refreshed their culinary offerings with refresh of “Seasons Mexicana”, the relocation of “Peaks” to the Patio and “The Waffle Hut” is Windham’s own hot waffles on the snow next to the C-Lift. They have also been working on “The Outpost” with personalized lodging accommodations which includes access to member-only dining and amenities. They have also been working on members and lodging guest amenities including an Adventure Concierge which offers personalized outdoor experiences in winter and summer including guided snowshoe hikes, alpine touring and in the summer mountain biking and fly fishing as well other fun activities. “The Valley” will be offering an indoor tennis court and four pickleball courts with more renovations coming including a pool and more year-round courts. At their summer outpost called “The River” on the Hudson in Athens they will be offering to members casual BBQ, boating, picnics, paddleboards and kayaks. Woods Valley in Westernville in Central New York has installed a new snowmaking water pump which they note will increase their snowmaking water capacity by 60%. They also began construction on their new fixed grip quad which they note will increase their uphill capacity by 1800 person per hour. They plan to complete the lift in the summer of 2026 for the 26-27 season. Woods Valley also expanded their kitchen equipment for enhanced support of their banquet operations. Also new outdoor furniture was added to their 7,000 square foot heated patio spaces. They are also launching a new website in November and purchased a new excavator as well. Ski areas around the state are excited for the 2025-26 ski season and are ready to go with improved snowmaking systems even if Mother Nature does not cooperate with a season full of snow. New York has the best snowmaking in the country as the ski areas have adapted to the changing climate conditions with improved infrastructure and technology.
