Hi Oak Mountain Family!
What an incredible few weeks it has been! Our mountain has been filled with community spirit, love, laughter, generosity, and plenty of adventure, and we couldn’t be more grateful for everyone who has been a part of it.
We packed a lot into the final weeks of summer! From an epic Firetower 5K and OakRunner Trail Run, to our final Music on the Mountain of the season, our last Scenic Lift Ride & Summer Saturday Night with DJ2T, and an amazing first-ever Dirt Fest — it has been so much fun seeing Oak Mountain buzzing with people enjoying the mountain in so many different ways.
None of it would be possible without the incredible people behind it all. A HUGE thank you to our sponsors, donors, volunteers, staff, friends, families, athletes, riders, musicians, vendors, and everyone who simply showed up to support us. Whether you raced, rode, volunteered, donated, danced, sang, cheered, ate, drank, or just came to enjoy the mountain — THANK YOU! Your support means more to us than you know.
And speaking of adventure… Blue Line Trail Design has officially finished our newest bike trail! We got to celebrate by riding it together at Dirt Fest, and we can confirm — it is SO much fun! (Read more about it below)
Of course, things never really slow down behind the scenes at Oak! Pops and Eric have been steadily plugging away at renovations in the Rental Shop, and it’s exciting to see the progress they’re making.
We also recently said goodbye (for now!) to Shamus, who headed back to school at Gogebic Community College. From there, he’ll be off to the Yellowstone Club for his winter internship — an awesome opportunity and adventure ahead for him!
Since Shamus left, Conner has been a little lonely without his sidekick and has been forced to go back to working with Matt and Tucker. As usual, the three of them are working all over the mountain, tackling maintenance projects, repairs, and everything else on the never-ending list as we start shifting gears toward winter.
Because as hard as it is to believe… the snow will be flying before we know it!
Thank you again for making this summer at Oak Mountain such a memorable one. We’re incredibly lucky to have such an amazing community surrounding this little mountain of ours, and we can’t wait for everything still to come!

It’s Official — Loamy Matrimony is OPEN!
What an incredible few weeks for the Oak Mountain Bike Park! Stage One of our expansion is officially COMPLETE, our brand-new trail is open, and thanks to everyone who joined us for the first annual Dirt Fest, we got to celebrate it the best way possible — by RIDING IT! We are working on updating Trail Forks!
And, of course, this trail needed the perfect name…
Meet Loamy Matrimony!
Built by Eli Glesmann and Blue Line Trail Design, this beautiful new scenic climbing trail has officially been named Loamy Matrimony — a little nod to Eli and his wife, Taryn, who were married right here at Oak Mountain last year!
It makes this project even more special knowing how full-circle Eli’s story at Oak has become. He first started building bike trails here when he was in high school simply because he loved riding and building. Last year, he married Taryn here, and now he’s back professionally designing and building the next generation of trails at Oak. We couldn’t think of a more fitting name!
Our First Dirt Fest Was a HUGE Success!
We couldn’t have asked for a better day for our first annual Dirt Fest! The mountain was filled with riders, families, friends, Abelgardens, DJ2T, laughter, and so much community spirit.
One of the biggest highlights was gathering together for the official ribbon cutting of Loamy Matrimony and then watching everyone head out to ride it for the very first time. Seeing this project go from an idea, to fundraising, to construction, and finally to riders actually enjoying the trail was incredibly special.
And thanks to the generosity of everyone who came out, along with our amazing sponsors, donors, vendors and supporters, Dirt Fest raised $678 for the Oak Mountain Bike Park! Every dollar will go right back into helping us maintain, improve, and continue growing the trail system.
Stage One Is Done — But We’re Not Done Dreaming!
Thanks to the incredible generosity of our supporters and our partnership with Camp of the Woods and various other donors, we were able to make Stage One a reality. But Loamy Matrimony is only the beginning!
Our Bike Park expansion is a multi-phase project, and we still have fundraising to do to bring the entire vision to life. Every donation — big or small — helps us continue building a trail system for riders of all ages and abilities and strengthens outdoor recreation right here in the Speculator Region and Adirondacks.
