The
Oak Mountain Times
Hi Oak Mountain Family!
What a week we have ahead of us! Summer may be winding down, but things are anything but quiet here at Oak Mountain. From live music and trail running to karaoke, mountain biking, and exciting progress happening across the mountain, there are plenty of reasons to join us!
With only two Wednesdays left of Music on the Mountain, we hope you'll join us for another beautiful evening on the mountain! Enjoy live music, great food and cold drinks from The Acorn, mountain biking, and time with friends and family. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and settle in for one of our favorite summer traditions.
This weekend is packed with fun! Saturday morning kicks off with the Firetower 5K, 3-Mile Walk & 1K Kids Fun Run, followed by Karaoke Saturday night for a fun summer evening at Oak. Then we're back at it Sunday morning with the OakRunner 5K & 10K Trail Run! Whether you're running, walking, cheering, or just coming to enjoy the festivities, we'd love to have you here.
Please note this Saturday Bike Trails will be closing at 3:30 for the Wedding Ceremony and then for the OakRunner on Sunday, but will reopen at 12pm.
We're incredibly excited to share that Eli Glesmann of Blue Line Trail Design and his crew have officially started Stage One of the Oak Mountain Bike Park expansion! Work is underway on our new scenic climbing trail, and it's already exciting to watch this vision begin to take shape. There's a pretty special Oak Mountain story behind Eli's connection to these trails, too—read more below!
There's never a shortage of projects happening around here! Shamus, Conner, Tucker, Declan, and Matt have been hard at work all over the mountain, from trimming trees and trail work to maintenance projects and plenty of other jobs that help keep Oak moving forward. There's always something being built, fixed, improved, or prepared for the season ahead!
It's going to be a BIG week at Oak Mountain, and we hope you'll be part of it. Come for the music, hit the trails, run a race, grab the karaoke mic, enjoy some great food, or simply stop by to see what's new.
There's a lot happening on this little mountain—and we can't wait to share it all with you!
We look forward to seeing you soon,
The O’Brien Family

It’s Official — Stage One Is Underway!
We are SO excited to announce that the next phase of the Oak Mountain Bike Park expansion is officially underway!
Eli Glesmann of Blue Line Trail Design and his crew are here on the mountain working on Stage One, featuring a brand-new scenic climbing trail. Watching it begin to take shape is incredibly exciting — this is going to be one gorgeous trail!
And one of our favorite parts of this project is getting to come full circle with Eli. Eli first started building bike trails right here at Oak Mountain when he was in high school — simply because he loved riding and building trails. Last year, he and his wife, Taryn, were married here at Oak, and now he’s back professionally building the next generation of trails. How cool is that?!
Thanks to the incredible generosity of our supporters and our partnership with Camp of the Woods, we’ve been able to get Stage One started — but we still need your help!
Breaking ground is a huge milestone, but we have not yet reached our fundraising goal. This project will be completed in phases, and there is still so much more we want to build. Every donation — big or small — gets us one step closer to completing the full vision for the Oak Mountain Bike Park.
If you’ve been thinking about supporting the project, now is the time! Your donation will directly help us continue building a trail system for riders of all ages and abilities, strengthen outdoor recreation in the Speculator Region and Adirondacks, and create something our community can enjoy for generations to come. We’ve started digging, but we need our community’s help to keep the momentum going!
And there’s another fun way to help! Join us next Saturday, August 29, for DirtFest — an Oak Mountain Bike Park fundraiser! Come ride, hang out with our biking community, enjoy a full day on the mountain, and help us raise funds to keep this exciting project moving forward. Every bit of support helps us get closer to our goal!
Can’t make it to DirtFest but still want to help us reach our fundraising goal?
• Venmo: @oakmountainski
• Check: Payable to Adirondack Foothills Trails Alliance (AFTA) with “Oak Mountain Bike Park” in the memo line.
Thank you to everyone who has already donated, volunteered, shared our vision, and helped us get to this exciting moment. Together, let’s get this project to the finish line!
We are now members of the AFTA (Adirondack Foothill Trails Alliance)! Our hope is to grow this program.
